I have lived in Austin for about a year now and I am in love with it. From the sunshine to the live music to the endless hikes Austin should definitely be your next travel destination! On this post I am going to talk about 3 of my favorite spots right outside of Austin that you must go to when visiting. Lake Travis-Lake travis is the most beautiful lake I have ever been on. The light blue color of the water is amazing and it gets super warm during the summer months. If you can I would definitely recommend renting a boat for the day to get out on the lake. You can swim, fish, tube, wakeboard or just relax on the beautiful lake. If you do not want to rent a boat you can go to one of the multiple parks along Lake Travis for a day of swimming, tanning, and grilling out. The best view of lake travis is definitely from the Oasis. While I am not a fan of the food at the Oasis the view is well worth going to see.. especially for a sunset!! There is also a brewery and vegan ice cream spot at the Oasis that I love.
Fredericksburg, Texas-If you are a wino like me you NEED to go visit Fredericksburg. There are endless amount of wineries on your drive to Fredericksburg. You will feel like you are in Napa Valley with how many wineries there are. Besides wine, Fredericksburg is the best place to get fresh peaches. They grow them right there and they are the most delicious peaches I ever tasted. The actual town of Fredericksburg is also a must see. It is an old Texas town with multiple shops and restaurants. It is a fun place to walk around! They also hold multiple festivals every year so make sure you check their website to plan on going when there is a festival.
Hamilton's pool-Hamilton's pool is a natural pool that was created naturally thousands of years ago. It is SO pretty I am amazed every time I see it. The rocks that surround it are massive you feel like you are in a cave. You can swim in the pool and there is a little beach area to lay out. I saw huge fish and multiple turtles when I was there! The only downside is how busy it gets during the summer months. If you plan to go during the summer I definitely recommend calling to make a reservation. There are also multiple hiking trails if you are up for a hike after your swim!
